What is this?
A monitoring software for GNSS receiver evaluation kit "VN series" of Furuno.
It is available to see latitude, longitude, velocity and reception status of the satellite signal easily.
It is also available to collect and playback the log data and plot the tracks on the map.
* For more detailed evaluation and log storage, please use the GNSS Conductor of Windows version.

How to install?
Please install and launch the APK file which was sent by Email as attached file in advance on the Android terminal.
* Please put the check in the "Unknown sources" in the security settings of the terminal before installing.

How to use?
Check the "Stay awake" and "Allow mock location" in the "Developer options" on the terminal, and start the application in a state of connecting an evaluation kit and Android terminal by the cable.
* Please prepare the conversion connector of the micro USB on the Android terminal by customer.

  1. Become a "communication mode" with the evaluation kit when you select the "GNSS Receiver VN-86x / VN87x" in the combo box on the upper part of the "Main" tab. Log data is collected automatically.
  2. It becomes "log replay mode" when you select a NMEA file in the "choose NMEA file ..."

Regarding communication with the TB-1
To communicate with the TB-1, please enable the USB host function (OTG) on your Android device. If communication is not possible, unplug and reinsert the USB cable, then check for the message output asking for connection with the TB-1 after 2 - 3 seconds. If the message is not displayed, reinstall the app and check again.

How to install a "surge protective device" to enhance lightning surge resistance? (with examples and test results)
There are two types of surge protective devices (SPDs) for GNSS receivers
  • Against direct lightning strikes, that is against surges caused by direct ligthning strikes on the antenna.
  • Against induced lightning, that is against surges caused by the magnetic field generated by near-by lightning strikes.
    By combining the above two types of SPDs, lightning surge resistance is enhanced.

Due to recent abnormal weather conditions, countermeasures against lightning surges are becoming more important. Using our SPD model TVA-03C for direct lightning and model TVA-03V for induced lightning as examples, we will introduce their installation methods and the results of lightning impulse tests.
